Hecate is the name of the ancient Greek Goddess of Transformation and Choice. She waits for us at the midnight crossroads, serenaded by the sound of her baying hounds and hooting owls and hissing serpents. Her torches shine out in the dark to illuminate our most difficult decisions. She offers us a magick key to the mysteries of life and a sacred knife to divide this from that. She is considered to be a major Goddesses of Witchcraft, one of the three aspects of the lunar triple Goddess: the Crone or Dark Moon. One of the most popular Goddesses of the modern Goddess and Pagan movements, She protects all children, midwife’s the mother in childbirth, grants wisdom to the aged and guides the spirit out of life and into death. She is especially popular with menopausal women but She is there for anyone who has to make a hard choice. This powerful Wisdom Goddess is presented in Her triple aspect, standing with two of Her sacred animals: the hound and the serpent and surrounded by a border with a Greek key design.

Hecate Meal
On the last evening of the waning Moon, make a simple meal for Hecate of eggs, fish and onion (you decide how to prepare it.)  Take this to a gateway, bridge or cross-roads, three way roads or pathways are perfect.  Place your offering on the ground and leave, do this quickly and silently and don’t look back.  Best to put the offering on a bio-degradable plate if you can or a plate that you are happy to gift Her, as you really need to leave everything there.  Continuing to do this over time will build a strong connection with the Great Goddess, do so with respect.  Her energy is BIG and can literally rock you; She is very, very old, nothing light or fluffy here, when we remain respectful, there is nothing to fear.  With Hecate’s assistance, our work becomes a force to be reckoned with.  The Many Jeweled One will empower us and inspire our witchcraft.

There are many situations where witches can make a stand against evil and corruption; it is an important part of the job as black magic -the emotional manipulation of another against their free-will- is rife.  People are constantly manipulated by advertising, the Government, the media, by so called authorities and of course gossip.  Fear generates the belief that there is nothing that we can do, but we can make a difference if we choose to.
